What Exactly Are Dental Implants?
Why Do You Need Dental Implants?
Implants Restore Confidence and Function
- Natural Look and Feel – Implants closely resemble natural teeth in both appearance and function, creating a seamless, confident smile.
- Improved Speech – Unlike dentures that may slip or shift, implants stay secure, allowing for clear, natural speech.
- Long-Lasting Comfort – Implants become a fixed part of your mouth, eliminating discomfort, sore spots, or irritation often caused by removable dentures.
- Better Chewing Function – With implant-supported teeth, you can enjoy your favorite foods without worry. They provide strength and stability similar to natural teeth.
- Exceptional Durability – With good oral care, implants can last decades—often a lifetime—making them a long-term, cost-effective solution.
Are You a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
If you're considering dental implants, it's important to know whether you're a suitable candidate. Successful healing depends on having enough healthy, dense bone in the area where the implant will be placed. If there is bone loss, we may recommend a bone graft before proceeding with the implant.
Equally important is your overall health—being well enough to undergo oral surgery and recover properly is essential. Fortunately, most patients who need or want dental implants are able to have the procedure done safely and successfully.
What to Expect During a Dental Implant Procedure?
The dental implant procedure begins with the administration of either local or general anesthesia to ensure your comfort—this will either numb the area or put you into a sleep-like state. Once you're comfortable, we make a small incision in the gum tissue and carefully place a titanium implant post deep into the jawbone.
After placement, the site is allowed to heal over the next several months—typically around six. During this time, the implant naturally fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration. Once healing is complete, we’ll design and attach a custom restoration (such as a crown, bridge, or denture) that securely connects to the implant.
