Dr. Hertzberg was raised in Naperville and was a lifelong resident of the Chicago area. He graduated with degree in biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996. He then went straight to dental school at the University of Illinois at Chicago graduating in 2000. He was selected to the graduate orthodontic residency program at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he earned his specialty certificate in orthodontics and a master’s degree in Oral Sciences as well. His master’s research project focused on the benefits of interceptive orthodontic treatment.
He has been a practicing orthodontist since 2003. He has vast experience in all aspects of orthodontics. He is a strong advocate of early orthodontic treatment where treatment is appropriate and has numerous techniques depending on the specific needs of the child. This treatment can have lasting benefits and dramatically simplify traditional orthodontic treatment later on and prevent more complicated treatments. He has treated thousands of children over the years using the most advanced techniques but individually geared towards each child. He is also certified using clear aligned treatment using the new advanced Sure Smile system.
He is a longtime member of the Spear Study Club which focuses on complicated interdisciplinary adult treatment. This kind of treatment involves both restorative and surgical dental treatment, which very few providers are able to successfully do.
He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.
He has been married to his wife Allison for over 20 years and has 2 children Abigail (16), who in involved with orchestra and Zach (13) who is very active in soccer and looking forward to his new Club in Texas, Lonestar SC. They are all looking very forward to the new life in Central Texas along with their dog Peanut.
